Windows Live Installer Error 0x80070643

    Windows Live Installer Problem, continually rolls back, Error 0x80070643

    Trying to update Windows Live Messenger on a Vista Computer running Windows Live Messenger version 2008. I get notified that a new version of Messenger is ready to be installed. When I run the update using the Windows Live Installer program, it completes the install 100%, then proceeds to rollback the entire install. It gives me error #0x80070643, and says there may be another installer running at the same time (there is not). This has happened each of the 3 times I have tried to run this update.



    Another error I am getting from this Windows Live Installer:"a network error occurred while attempting to read from the file c:\windows\installer\photolibrary.msi"

    But nothing here has helped either....
    Any ideas?

    Here is Phat94gt's post from the MS forum:

    Actually, I found a solution that worked for me:

    1. Manually uninstall all the Live applications, except the Photo Library.

    2. Download Windows Live Photo Gallery Beta from
    Installing/uninstalling Windows Live Wave 3 beta applications - Windows Live

    3. Move the downloaded PhotoLibrary.msi file into C:\Windows\Installer

    4. Run the msi

    5. Run the windows live setup and install / update any Live programs

    This did the trick.
