Just a note for whoever reading my post .....
I noticed that if I access hotmail from messenger's window,
it does ask me a password. but if I access hotmail on the web
it keep automatically sign me in.
I do have messenger security setting check marked to
"always ask me for my password when cheking hotamail.."
but it lookes like this setting is only valid if I access hotmail
from messenger, not web.

Greetings Meg,

To get the behavior you want, simply uninstall the Live Sign-In Assistant as it's not a
required component and sole purpose is just to link Live web pages up with your local store
of Windows Live IDs.

To do so, close all Internet Explorer windows if open, then press the Windows key and R to
bring up the Run box (alternatively you can click the Start button and choose Run in XP or
just click Start and use the Start Search field in Vista) and paste the following:
msiexec /x {45338B07-A236-4270-9A77-EBB4115517B5}
then click OK and choose Yes to the prompt.

After that's done, pop open IE and head over to Hotmail to see if that's resolved the
problem.

Are you referring to the Security option in WLMsgr 2009(version 14) that instead of saying 'checking Hotmail' says
"Ask for my password when I go to Hotmail and other websites that require a Windows Live ID"

Also is this 'Sign-in' options checked in WLMsgr 2009(version 14) found at Tool\Options\Sign
- Allow automatic sign in when connected to the Internet

In conjunction with the above the automatic sign-in(same screen that prompts for username and pw, remember pw) needs to be enabled
for automatic sign-in

How are you accessing Hotmail ?
The Mail icon in WLMsgr
Via your browser(IE) at mail.live.com or hotmail.com

If I access Hotmail via mail.live.com with WLMsgr's two options configured as note above the Windows Live Sign-in Assistant prompts
me to sign in with my Windows Live ID. I have to click my Live ID to sign in.
Further, if the Live ID in the Windows Live Sign In Assistant is **not configured** to remember my password I have to enter my
password, if remember password is enabled the Sign In Assistant still prompts me to select my Live ID prior to logging in to
Hotmail

This prompt occurs regardless of whether or not "Ask for my password when I go to Hotmail and other websites that require a Windows
Live ID" is checked. I.e. The Sign In Assistant confguration(password not checked) appears to be controlling the password
requirement entry to Hotmail.

I tried this fix you gave me and it did work beautifully.
I was nervous to do this at first since it was my first time to do the "Run".
