| | RE: My Windows Live Messenger 2009 doesn't save user profile and passw Yes i'm going through the same problem really appreciate it if someone from Microsoft solves this problem. I found this post regarding this problem and it seemed to work for the original poster: Quote: > > I was able to solve this issue on a customer's computer that was running > XP. I copied the folders "messenger" and "windows live contacts" from the new profile and pasted it to my current profile, but it still gives me the same problem. | | RE: My Windows Live Messenger 2009 doesn't save user profile and p Mark, I've seen the same problem in XP with Limited Accounts. I posted the message below over a week ago but haven't been able to get a response. Thanks -- Dave -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3/25/2009 Remembering sign-in info on Limited accounts Hello I support PC's that use Limited accounts and have recently had problems with WLM 'remembering' signon information. The problem may have started with Build 2009 v14.0.8064.206 . Users are signed in with 'Remember me', 'Remember my password' and 'Sign me in automatically' checked. If the device is placed in Standby or Hibernate, the user is signed in automatically when they log into their account. However, once the device is Restart'd, the signon information is gone from Limited accounts. How can I get Windows/WLM to remember signon information and sign users in after a Restart? Thanks in advance -- Dave -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "moonbase7" wrote: Quote: > Yes i'm going through the same problem > > really appreciate it if someone from Microsoft solves this problem. | | RE: My Windows Live Messenger 2009 doesn't save user profile and p I'm having the same problem. I used to be able to open Windows Live Messenger and it'd remember my password and it was quick & easy to just click a button to log in. Since I updated it a few weeks ago I have to type my email address and password every damn time I want to start it. IT'S VERY ANNOYING! There must have been something wrong with the update, but I wish they'd hurry up and make a new update that works, but looking at this page and others I found on the net it seems like others have been having this problem a lot longer than me.. Another problem is that before I updated if I clicked the email icon to check my emails it'd open IE and go straight to my emails (without me having to type my password). Now it opens Opera (which isn't a problem as that's my main browser, but why did it change which browser it opens) and it asks me to type my email address and password. I do that and check the box to always remember email & password but next time it hasn't remembered it. |

| | RE: My Windows Live Messenger 2009 doesn't save user profile and passw This works. I am just reposting it without all the extra stuff from other posts. Open the registry (Start Run regedit) Browse for HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/User Shell Folders There is a key called AppData. Double click the AppData Key. Change the Value data From %APPDATA%. To %USERPROFILE%\Application Data |
