| | Sharing Applications I have three computers. All have Windows XP SP 2. On two machines I have WLM 14.0 (these have dynamic IP addresses and rest behind a cable router), one computer has WLM 8,5 (static address and is infront of the cable router firewall). The computer with WLM 8.5 can share applications with either of the other two computers with WLM 14.0, but the two WLM 14.0 computers cannot share with each other. Why not? They just go into an endless "waiting" mode. Suggestions? |

| | Re: Sharing Applications Greetings, Any software firewalls on these two machines? The Application Sharing in Messenger (on XP) should be able to accommodate internal as well as external connections (external using UPnP), although I haven't checked on 2009 and I'm not in a position to check right now. Also on these two machines-- if you pop open the Options dialog in Messenger (press Alt on keyboard, choose Tools, then Options), choose the Connection category, after waiting a few seconds for it to populate the information, what kind of connection has Messenger detected? -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2009 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Viper8726" <Viper8726@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:517789C4-202D-4226-8931-20EA6384C07B@xxxxxx Quote: > I have three computers. | | Re: Sharing Applications Jonathan - Thanks for offering to help. The static IP machine has Windows One care with Windows Firewall. The Two Dynamic IP address machines have McAfee Virus software with Windows Firewall. Machine one (one of the dynamic machines): directly connected to .NET Messenger Service through a wired network connection, connected to the Internet through a non-UPnP port restricted NAT. (Administrator) Machine two (one of the dynamic machines): directly connected to .NET Messenger Service (no mention of who, but it is wireless), connected to the Internet through a non-UPnP port restricted NAT. (Administrator) Machine three (with the static IP Address): directly connected to .NET Messenger Service through a wired network connection, connected to the Internet through a direct connection.
