| | Windows Live ID change I have just downloaded IE8 and when I restarted my machine, I got a message saying: "Important service announcement: As part of a recent system enhancement, we need you to change your e-mail address to continue signing in to the Windows Live(TM) Messenger Service. To ensure that your access is not blocked and to learn more, go to http://support.microsoft.com/gp/Messenger/en" Why do I have to change it, as i'm quite happy the way it is. Kind regards, Johnny F |

| | RE: Windows Live ID change I'm not 100% it's legit cause it's makes absolutely zero sense to me, especially concerning my email addresses which would no way be used for a corporate instant messaging system - which is what I gathered the change is for from what I read on the support page the warning sent me to. The page refers to Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 SP1. 2005? really? That's super. I"m starting to think somebody just made a colossal mistake. Hmmm seems like alot of wasted time and big bucks to achieve such. My suggestion would be to change your secret question and also your password. | | RE: Windows Live ID change This appears to be systemwide. How could changing your email address be a phishing attempt? It sounds like someone at Microsoft flipped the wrong switch and sent that message out in error. Changing your password makes it go away. |
