| | Re: How to allow automatic sign in when connected to internet? Make sure you have the run at bootup box checked. If Messenger isn't running when you connect to the internet, it can't automatically sign in. | | Re: How to allow automatic sign in when connected to internet? Greetings JC, There's already some good responses here to your question, but just to add; in some minor cases Messenger won't automatically connect you if it can't find a network connection when your machine starts up (for instance, if you have login to a VPN, or something similar). In which case you may want to manually start Messenger after you've connected to that, assuming you were just having it start when you log in to Windows. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2009 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "JC" <JC@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:B94FDD14-F220-4D13-BB7B-526B19FE3A1C@xxxxxx Quote: > I have done this using Windows Live Messenger 2009 ( 14.0.8064.206 ): > 1) On the Tools menu, I click Options; > 2) In the left pane, I chose third option (about starting messenger); > 3) In the right pane, inside topic "General", I checked a checkbox that > says: "Allow automatic sign in when connected to the Internet" . > 4) I click OK. > > This is not working... ![]() > What I need to start automatically messenger, when internet connection is > active? > Need I to check or verify other things? |

| | RE: How to allow automatic sign in when connected to internet? Hi JC, I had the same problem, and found that there are 2 places/options you have to set. In addition to the Tools | Options, General settings, you also have to check the 3 checkboxes on the Sign In ("Welcome back!") page. You'll find these by clicking on the small circular arrow button to the right on the same line as "Sign in as:" Btw, this is a classic usability problem, imho, tiny buttons that are hard to see and provide no clue as to what their purpose is. Anyway, hope this helps!
