| | How do you keep WLM from starting at login without signing in? I would also rather not have to edit the registry. I just want to tell it to stop starting up in the admin accounts so i can do updates and installs without having to kill it every time. I also don't want to have to sign in every time I want to make it go away. |

| | Re: How do you keep WLM from starting at login without signing in? Thanks, but the point was to do it without signing in. Tools-Options-Sign In are not available until you do a sign in. It should be available before sign in, but isn't. At least it isn't in the version I am currently getting from the microsoft automatic download sites. The question still stands...is there a way to stop it without signing in? | | Re: How do you keep WLM from starting at login without signing in? On my system it is not necessary to sign in in order to get to tools/options. Vista Home Premium SP1, messenger version 2009, build 14....... | | Re: How do you keep WLM from starting at login without signing in? After you told me you had it available, ai went and clicked on every menu option i could find and found it, but it was not under tools options. It was in the drop down menu for Sign In As...real intuitive there Microsoft. Thanks for pushing, Michael. | | Re: How do you keep WLM from starting at login without signing in? Nope...newest one straight from MS download site (version 14.0.8064.206). Maybe yours is an upgrade from a previous version. In other MS software, certain tool bar features will carry over as they were, but new installs will relocate things to where they want to have them moved to. I stopped questioning. | | Re: How do you keep WLM from starting at login without signing in? Greetings, The option is there as Michael already indicated. However, you need to open up the main Messenger window (where you type in the username and password), press the Alt key on the keyboard to bring up the menu bar, then choose Tools, Options, etc. Alternatively, you can just download and run this .reg file to do it for you (exit Messenger first): http://messenger.jonathankay.com/dow...utorun_wlm.reg -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2009 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "rwl_jr" <rwljr@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:33527E05-72E1-47E6-8B4B-18D9F4F71DE7@xxxxxx Quote: > Nope...newest one straight from MS download site (version 14.0.8064.206). > > Maybe yours is an upgrade from a previous version.
