| | Re: File Transfer Greetings Erik, To the best of my knowledge, no one has patched this out. However, you can still send out zip files without a virus scanner -- you just need to tell Messenger that you have a virus scanner (it doesn't actually have to do anything). If you go into the Options (open any Messenger window, press the Alt key on the keyboard to bring up the menu bar, then choose Tools and then Options), choose the File Transfer category, then choose the 'Scan files for viruses' using option and put in an application which will take in a file and just close afterwards. One easy one that comes with Windows is xcopy.exe (don't worry, it won't copy anything). So you can just put c:\windows\system32\xcopy.exe (or use the Browse button to find it) into the field and you'll be good to send and receive zips. However be aware that you'll still get a dialog saying the file my be unsafe which you'll still need to click Continue to. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2009 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Erik" <no@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:h426v4hubrn0cokr96gplrv42evfq0c0a1@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi, > > I'm using live messenger 14.0.8064.206 > sending zip files is a problem. > Live messenger wants install a virus scanner first. > I don't want that that... > Can i patch or change messenger to make this more easy. > Now i remove the .zip extention to transfer it. > > Erik |
