Vista - question on contacts

I have a question about adding contacts. I have had an occurance twice now
that I have added a yahoo contact to windows live messenger and a window pops
up that says this contact has already been added to your ;ist. so it will add
them twice both will be the same address but one will be numbered such as if
I have the address 123@xxxxxx it will be that and 123@xxxxxx26 or
something along those lines. another thing I have noticed is the option to
delete a contact has changed. and I have tried this on test accounts. when I
have had a contact delete me when I am on messenger I don't see the option to
delete in the privacy window until I sign out and resign back in. even though
I have done clean installs at different times the problem still remains the
same. this started happening a few months ago and I just wondered what causes
it. it seems to be a glitch somewhere but I don't know if it is that or if it
is something I did that messed it up. no one else seems to be having or has
had this problem. if it is me I would just like to know what happened.
because before the addition of that yahoo address everything worked fine.

I’ve tried to duplicate this, but haven’t had any luck. My guess is that it’s something more connected to the fact that the contacts you’re entering are Yahoo! users. Have you experienced anything like this on your other contacts? That might point to a more widespread problem.
