| | WLM 2009 Contact List issue Hi everybody! I'm having a very annoyng problem with my WLM. A few days ago I decided to stop using my WLM 8.1 (that was working just fine) and start using the brand new WLM 2009. So, I downloaded the build 14.0.8064.0206 at the official LIVE site, and installed it. But now, I can't see my contact list. It appears blank. I've tried everything I could imagine to solve it: - deleted the contacts cache; - tried to refresh the contacts, by setting my computer as a "public one" in WLM options; - tried to import the contact list from an external file; - uninstalled the new WLM 2009 via Control Panel and reinstalled it; - uninstalled using "ZapMessenger", to perform a "clean installation"; - uninstalled using "Messenger Deep Clean", to perform a "clean installation"; - uninstalled using Deep Clean, then used ZapMessenger, then traced all messenger and live related folders and deleted them, then traced all messenger and live entries on the registry that I could think about and deleted them, so I could perform the cleanest installation of all. None worked. Using a friend's PC with the same WLM 2009 version, the contacts appear normally, so I guess it's somewhat local. It's seems that other people are having this problem as well. I'm using Windows XP SP3, fully updated, IE8, AVG 8.5. No other processes running, just Windows' normal stuff. Virus and trojans seems unlikely (scanned localy, remotely and using an online AV). So... any ideas? |

| | Re: WLM 2009 Contact List issue Greetings, My guess as far with this (you've already searched extensively) is that there's some sort of permissions problem preventing Messenger from writing the contacts to disk (or something like that). Note that I've not had direct access to a PC with this problem to specifically say or provide a real solution. If you're interested in helping me out with that, please let me know ![]() Although to be honest, from the sounds of it, you may be able to see if this is the case or not also. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2009 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Arnaldo Filho" <ArnaldoFilho@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:9C2D1B6F-1A07-4DC4-A783-F3CE6B3F2B47@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi everybody! > > I'm having a very annoyng problem with my WLM. | Really. I. Do. Not. Care. I. Just. Want. My. MSN. Sorted. | Re: WLM 2009 Contact List issue Look, I really am annoyed at this... If anyone has any solution what so ever I would really, really appreciate it. I have even made a new account and added a few amount of contacts and got a few others to add me as a test. So far neither have worked. The people that added me have and I have no invite to accept. The others haven't had an invite to accept... This is really annoying... I need to know how to sort it out because I'm starting to get annoyed with 8.1 and 8.5 as they constantly turn off at random points... If anyone does find a solution I will be eternally greatful |
