Vista - Messenger freezes with Video Call

Windows live messenger 2009 freezes when i try to start a video call it didnt use to before but for some reason now i does and i have even tried repairing. Can anyone help?

Just for clarification, "before" when exactly? Before you installed 2009, or did this just
start happening sometime later?

Also, it would be helpful to know your webcam manufacturer and model, and which Windows
version you're using. You're certainly not the only one experiencing such issues.

Finally, as a workaround for now, you can make use of the 'Webcam' function instead. To do
so, click the webcam icon in the conversation window (by the display pictures), then click
Show my webcam (on yours) and View my contacts' webcam (on your contacts). Then if you need
Audio, choose the Call button after that. It'll look and work similarly, except you won't
have full screen capabilities.
