question on windoews live messenger 8.5

was there a later version of 8.5 released? because I only seem to be able to
get the version 8.5 1302.1018. I have tried downloading the 12.0.1471.205
that said it was released on 11/15/07 where as the other one said it was
released on 11/08 of 07. I have done a reinstall on this but it just reverts
back to the 1302.1018.

Hi Rage,

Not that I recall. Where is this 12.0.1471.205 coming from exactly?

Note that it's not uncommon for Microsoft to update the dates on these things, as they can
get resigned with a later digital signature.

Re: question on windoews live messenger 8.5

Hi Rage,

I see what you're talking about now. There is no 12.x versions of Messenger, but the other
Windows Live "2008" products were 12.x versions, that's why it's listed on the "Windows Live"
download as 12.x and on the Messenger page as 8.5.

It's not until 2009 that the version numbers were synced up, and why Messenger got pushed to
14.x (13 being considered unlucky).

I had actually forgotten all about that, so thanks for the reminder.
