| | wlcomm.exe error when upgraded to Windows Live 2009 I run Window XP Home edition SP3, my laptop has 1,8GHz prosr and 2GB RAM. When I downloaded WL 2009 I cannot login to messenger as the wlcomm.exe error always appear. Tis program is located in the correct folder and has the expected size. My AV program allows this wlcomm.exe to have full access to the web. I have tried to unistall and reinstal WL 2009, read many discussion forus but nothing really was achieved. Any help? or do I have simply return to WL 2008? |

| | Re: wlcomm.exe error when upgraded to Windows Live 2009 Greetings, In all honesty, dealing with wlcomm crashes is a bit like finding a needle in a haystack, there's plenty of possible solutions that people have indicated have worked, but in some cases, it's very difficult to figure it out. I admit I haven't had any time one-on-one with anyone to try and fix one of these, and I may need to do that. That said, if you haven't already done so, make sure you're not using a custom XP theme, and you may need to completely uninstall any "internet security" (at least temporarily) to determine if that's what's crashing the crashes. Additionally, if you haven't already done so, removing the cache of contacts on your machine has proven to be effective. To do so, head over to the following folder, and delete the "Windows Live Contacts" inside it: \Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft Where username is your Windows username. Additionally, some of these folders will be hidden by default, to see them simply press the Alt key on the keyboard in any Windows Explorer window to bring up the toolbar, click Tools, then Folder Options, then the View tab, and then choose 'Show hidden files and folders'. After click OK, they should appear with the other folders. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2009 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "thanosm9" <thanosm9@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:286AFCE5-5D9F-470B-843F-A1B392374D4E@xxxxxx Quote: > I run Window XP Home edition SP3, my laptop has 1,8GHz prosr and 2GB RAM. > When I downloaded WL 2009 I cannot login to messenger as the wlcomm.exe error > always appear.
