| | WLM2009 not showing up but still in tasks list Hi, the problem is with last WLM2009 version which is not showing up (no window, no error message...) but is still in tasks list. Here's how it gone : I installed the last WLM2009 version from WLI wlsetup-custom.exe, checking only Messenger, from a non-admin account on Vista but provided the admin password as required for installation. No problem during installation. However, I was prepared to see WLM at the end, but nothing happened. Then I tried to lanch WLM manually, to no avail. But in tasks list, I can see 2 msnmsgr process. I'm unable to kill both, so I tried to reboot. Vista won't let me do it (freezing on closing) and I had to turn off my computer. After the next boot, I checked the processes in tasks list and again msnmsgr is there but not showing. My firewalls (Windows and KIS) are ok with WLM. 2 uninstallations et re-installations later, still the same problem.I've seen nothing on it in newsgroups or in MS online help before. Any idea ? ------------------------- WLM 14.0.8064.206 Vista Premium 32bits SP1 |

| | Re: WLM2009 not showing up but still in tasks list Greetings, In versions of Messenger prior to v14 (2009), this would usually indicate that a network device (usually a router) on your network was not responding to UPnP properly. This problem should be fixed, however, perhaps there's still a problem there. To test this theory, unplug the network cable or disable the network adapter, reboot and try again. If it works, then your router may need to be reset or may need new firmware. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2009 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "zongheng" <zongheng@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:80D99E70-13CB-4B03-B67D-25B183A0BA19@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi, the problem is with last WLM2009 version which is not showing up (no window, no error > message...) but is still in tasks list. | | Re: WLM2009 not showing up but still in tasks list Thank you for replying, I unplugged the network cable with no effect and again had to do a hard reboot to reboot the computer.
