| | Messenger won't retain login after reboot - revisited. I have once again reloaded MSN messenger, and as usual it won't retain login information after reboot. The fixer did not work, although it happily wiped all of my Outlook Express passwords. What next? Yahoo logins to my msn accounts so I don't really need MSN messenger. Is there anything else that can be done before I just delete it and give up on it? I'm currently using XP64 and version 8.1 build 8.1.0178.00 of Windows Live Messenger. |

| | RE: Messenger won't retain login after reboot - revisited. I'm having the same problem. Every time I reboot or startup my computer, I have to log into Messenger because it will not retain (save) my login info. What's with that anyway? I had to replace my hard drive with a new and larger drive, did a clean install, and am still getting this problem. | | Re: Messenger won't retain login after reboot - revisited. Open the registry (Start Run regedit) Browse for HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/User Shell Folders There is a key called AppData. Before I fixed it, its contents was %APPDATA%. chang it to %USERPROFILE%/Application Data (which refers to the folder Application Data in your user folder).
