Re: New contacts appear offline

I have a family memeber who has just installed WLM 2009. It has been 3 days
now and she is still appearing offline, even she has signed in as available.
Everyone in our group and network see's her as offline. We tried running
your link but noting happend. She has McAfee and we have allowed everything
that says Windows Live. Please help.
Thanks,

Re: New contacts appear offline

Greetings,

What's described here is an issue from 3 years ago which has long been since fixed, it won't
help.

Has she recently changed her Windows Live ID or anything like that?

Assuming not, here's something to test with her -- delete her off your contact list and then
have her do the same. After that, you need to go into the Options by pressing the Alt key on
the keyboard to bring up the menu bar, then Tools, then Options, and then the Privacy
category. Find her in the Allow list, then right-click her name and choose Delete. If this
Delete option is not available (grayed out), she hasn't removed you from your contact list.

Note that if you've waited awhile and it still is grayed out, sign out and back in for a
quick refresh.

Once she's removed, go ahead and re-add her. Hopefully she'll get the request and then
appear online to you again. If this is the case, then she'll have to do this with everyone.
