Vista - WLM 2009 still missing contacts

hey,

im having huge problems for afew months now with the wlm 2009. when i
download it and install it my contacts are empty in the list. ive done
everything 100x over from the help topics. even reinstalled windows xp sp3
again still doesnt work and now with 8.5 isnt working. also checked
contacts.live.com all my contacts says says their in messenger :S im all out
of ideas. anyone have any idea how to fix this?

well eariler 8.5 was giving me 8000000d error(cant remember the code)
couldnt connect at all so i clicked the help button and i saw that by the
sept 15th ill be needing the new WLM so i downloaded it thinking thats why
8.5 was giving me that error but since ive deleted WLM 2009 ive reinstalled
8.5 its working fine now. but on the 15th im going to have the missing
contacts problem since 8.5 wont work after?

i completely reinstalled the computer of my sister, about 4-5 months ago.
i installed wlm, but the contact list was empty. i tried 3 different
accounts, nothing worked. tried 2 days of troubleshooting from the web and
own ideas, nothing worked.
the only thing i found out thats maybe helpful:
i deleted the whole messenger folder in the application data, and when i
start wlm and log in, it creates the folder again, with a
"ContactsLog"-File,
and in this file it lists all the Contacts. So it gets the contacts from the
server, but i dont have them in the list, i cant add anyone, and noone can
see me as online or contact me.
but the display picture for example is loaded correctly.

so i installed the old messenger, and it worked.
but now i am forced to install WLM2009 and have again exactly the same
problem, like thousands of other users, and noone has a solution for it.
it sucks that you forbid the old messenger version, although the new one
doesn't work correctly.
i'm sure that you will lose many users through this issue...
