Can Install Live Messenger on Windows 7

I downloaded the latest install files and have tried to install Live and Live
Messenger with similar results. The event viewere show the following error
generated with a source of sidebyside:
Activation context generation failed for
"C:\Users\Scott\Downloads\wlsetup-web.exe".Error in manifest or policy file
"C:\Users\Scott\Downloads\wlsetup-web.exe" on line 0. Invalid Xml syntax.

Re: Can Install Live Messenger on Windows 7

Greetings Blu,

You can try the full installer:
http://g.live.com/1rewlive3/en/wlsetup-all.exe

Or just install the components you want separately without all the fuss:

Re: Can Install Live Messenger on Windows 7

I get the same error with the full installer. I had better luck with just the
messenger. It installed, but won't let me log in. It says the service is
unavailable.

Re: Can Install Live Messenger on Windows 7

Hi Blu,

Did you install the other components listed as required for Messenger (contacts platform for
instance)?

Assuming yes, click the Details button and we'll need to know the error code you're seeing to
help further.

Re: Can Install Live Messenger on Windows 7

I too am seeing this problem. Once in awhile I can log into Live Messenger.
99% of the time I receive "Signing into Windows Live Messenger failed because
the service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." Error
code 800402a
