new messenger

downloaded new version 3 days ago and it has been nothing but a hassle...i
cant see my contacts so dont know who is on line...or if I am on line. I am
very disappointed with the new version and saw no reason for upgrading.
All of my contacts from last version are now on the version 4.0 ...reverse
tactics or what. Needless to say, if I cant soon get messenger working I
will be uninstalling and staying with Paltalk

Re: new messenger

Greetings,

I believe the no contacts issue should be resolved soon.

You could go back to the previous version (8.5 aka 2008). To do so just press the windows
key and R on the keyboard, and paste in the following:
msiexec /x {A85FD55B-891B-4314-97A5-EA96C0BD80B5}
then click OK.

Once that's completed, just download and run the 8.5 Microsoft Installer file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/redir/wlm85.asp

After that you can start Messenger again from the start menu and use it normally. You can
attempt the upgrade again when the issues have been resolved.

Re: new messenger

Hi Jonathan

I installed the 2009 WL Mail & Messenger in April. I haven't been happy
with their performance and would like to revert to the 'old' version. If I
follow your instructions, will I still have my emails and contacts?

Thanks, Jane

Re: new messenger

Hi Jane,

This will just downgrade Messenger, it won't affect Mail. But yes, the contacts would be the
same.

Given your other post, I assume you already found the mail group, and the mail MVPs (who are
very knowledgeable) can help you there.
