| | can't stop windows live folder opening on start up i recently downloaded the latest version of windows live which includes messenger, mail etc. Now when i boot my computer (running windows xp) it automatically opens a window with a'Microsoft' subfolder from the 'Program" folder. This Microsoft folder displays only an 'Office Live' folder and a 'Service Enhancement Pack' folder. I then have to manually close this window to see the Windows start up screen. How do I stop this window from opening automatically? |

| | Re: can't stop windows live folder opening on start up Greetings, Although I haven't seen this to be able to determine the exact cause, uninstalling the Search Enhancement Pack usually solves this problem. Note that this is part of the Windows Live Toolbar, which I expect you're not using anyway. You can do by clicking Start, then Run, then pasting in the following: msiexec /x {9C9CEB9D-53FD-49A7-85D2-FE674F72F24E} then click OK. Choose Yes to the prompt and hopefully that will resolve the issue. If it doesn't and assuming you don't use it anyway, uninstalling the Office Live Add-in might deal with it. To do that, bring up the Run box in the same way, but use this instead: msiexec /x {57F0ED40-8F11-41AA-B926-4A66D0D1A9CC} -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2009 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "aussieinquirer" <aussieinquirer@newsgroup> wrote in message news E4D026B-8D28-4A90-8F2A-0F0AC18082A6@newsgroupQuote: > i recently downloaded the latest version of windows live which includes > messenger, mail etc. Now when i boot my computer (running windows xp) it > automatically opens a window with a'Microsoft' subfolder from the 'Program" > folder.
