Messenger startup popups

Hello,

after being forced to upgrade to WLM 14.0.8089.726 I've been getting popup
ads upon signing in to Messenger every few days. The popups are titled
"Welcome to Windows Live Messenger" and they urge me to use some of the
supposedly new features in this version of Messenger.

An example of such a popup can be seen here:

(it's in Estonian and says I should use animated display pictures)

I've found no way to disable these popups. At first I thought they would go
away after a time but I've been using the newest version of WLM for a few
weeks now and it's still nagging me. Is there any way to stop these popups?

Thank you very much for your time!

RE: Messenger startup popups

I've been using version 14 since it was released as a beta and I still get
the popups from time to time. I probably see one every 4-5 weeks. Unless you
are seeing them all the time, it should really be no big deal.

Re: Messenger startup popups

Greetings,

They're actually based on the clock/date somehow and depending on what operating
system/locale you're in will depending on which ones you get.

Although I've managed to get the initial ones to be disabled, I've never fully been able to
disable them entirely since it is based on a time value. As Doris said, you can just ignore
them as after the initial ones, they won't appear again for awhile (months at least).

The ones we're seeing now are actually a new set (style wise anyway) that have appeared since
the forced upgrade started. I believe they work the same though.
