update service not avaliable

Late night I got home turned on my PC and one care was red. I looked and it
stated it could not update. So I was thinking just a server issue and let
it go for the night. Today I am getting up and I am getting the same issue.
I have tried to do the update manually but it will not start updating. I
have

Version: 2.0.2392.4
Virus and spyware: 1.24.5335.0
Firewall: 1.2.28.112

I am running Vista Ultimate 64bit.

Thanks,

Re: update service not avaliable

It took a few days for me to get the updated downloaded and installed- the
program kept trying but, apparently, the server is overworked. Sooner or
later it will succeed. The program fails to give proper feedback as to
what's going on.

You're running the beta, Neal. That environment was shut down last Monday, 1/14.
You need to uninstall the beta and install the trial and subscribe -

Re: update service not avaliable

StephenB: Having a little trouble replying to web newsgroups. Will try this.

Your FIX suggestion for 100% cpu usage repair after install of Oc 2.0 is
right on the money. I have repaired both machines, running IE7 and XP2,
using the P2P shutdown. Been running and doing work for two hours now with
no noticeable effects.

Many, many Thanks.

Re: update service not avaliable

You should be fine once you reinstall using the production version, Neal. The
beta and the production "talk to" different back ends, so the beta can never
update to production.

Re: update service not avaliable

Neal, you are activating with the same LiveID that your subscription shows on
the Billing site, yes? You can't enter the key a second time. If signing in with
the LiveID does not see your active subscription, that typically means it is the
wrong LiveID. If it is the correct LiveID at activation, you'll need to contact
support. What country are you in? And is the hotmail address in your post your
real address?
