OneCare update today...

This morning I got a message on my PC to the effect that OneCare was about
to be updated and that I should not close it down until the update had
finished. I had seen this before and did not have a problem with it,
however, when the update was finished a message appeared saying that a
restart was required and that until the PC was restarted OneCare WOULD NOT
RUN AND WOULD NOT PROTECT THE PC!

Is this literally correct? What would have happened had I not been there
when the update finished? By the sound of it, my PC would be unprotected had
it been unattended - which it quite often is for very long periods. Can
anyone who knows comment?

Re: OneCare update today...

It looks like a shock tactic to me. "Reboot the computer or else!" I got
the same message.

Cheers,

The Firewall was locked down tight, but had you been opening emails, browsing
the web, etc. and ignored the warning, the other protection is inactive. No
inbound traffic is allowed at that point, though.
