Is there a way to set OneCare to allow a program access to the net no matter the
date/time stamp? I'm assuming( yeah, I know) that's what OneCare looks at.

I'm a programmer, and every time I recompile a program I'm working on, I have to
allow it again, which really interrupts my work flow.

The only way I have found so far is to disable OneCare, but since I'm working on the
net, I'm loath to do that.

TIA
Mike

No, the problem is not the time stamp, it is the fact that it has been
recompiled, hence the footprint/signature has changed. Think about it this way -
if an exe becomes infected by malware that alters that exe so that it is no
longer what it was when it was allowed originally, the altered and infected exe
would have unfettered access to do its nefarious business.

Thanks, Steve -
Understood and agreed. However, I'm not creating malware to attack my own machine (or
anyone elses). Some firewalls have an 'ignore this program' option, and I was hoping
to find a hidden one in OneCare.

LOL! I know you're not creating malware - your request is a common one from
developers. Unfortunately, there is no way to do this with OneCare.
