| Guest | retail box version. I am due to renew OneCare next month, but would like to purchase a retail version instead of an online renewal (personal reasons). I notice it is the same price either way. Has anyone done this, and was there any problem getting everything back to normal after installing retail version? I can't find anyone who has renewed with a retail version. It may be more of a problem than it is worth. As far as backups go, I make a full backup every month, not an incremental backup. -- BOB |

You should be able to buy the retail version and then enter your serial number into OneCare which should continue your service for another year. The renewal for OneCare is $49.99, and for 3 computers is a great deal. But someone said the retail box version is $39.99 + tax. With the price of gas these days, I'm not sure that letting the subscription renew automatically will be that much more than the retail box. But I'll let you make the call. Either way OneCare has been an excellent tool for me, I've been using it since beta and am very satisfied with its operation and performance. Best of luck to you. |

Purchase the retail box copy and then go to http://billing.microsoft.com Sign in with the subscription LiveID (Help/About in OneCare will show you the Subscription ID) Select the renew link in the billing entry for OneCare. Select the option to renew with a retail PIN or token. Follow the wizard for this and proceed with renewal. You can do this at any time, not just when you are due for renewal. It can take up to 24 hours to reflect the new subscription status in OneCare. -steve -- Stephen Boots MVP Windows Live Windows Live OneCare Forum Moderator sboots@xxxxxx | ||||||||||||

| Guest | Re: retail box version. I had similar thoughts a little while ago. the easiest way to do it is to buy the retail version (my local shop was around 40% cheaper than online) and use the product key inside to update your account. All is ok when I did it. I can't see why MS do it like this as the online version is alot more expensive and they had to produce a CD and box etc for the retail version. Seems a money making exercise to me.
