Vista - WLPG - Blue screens on Vista (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA)

WLPG - Blue screens on Vista (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA)

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA
0x00000050 (x,x,dx)

I cannot use Windows Live Photo Gallery in Vista 32. Just after starting a
blue screen is generated, sometimes almost instantly, sometimes after
clicking on something. I have tried uninstall and reinstall. I have not
seen this blue screen (or any other) on my vista computer.

Any ideas? I'd really like to get this up and running.

Re: WLPG - Blue screens on Vista (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA)

Could you clarify please - you said you have WLPG running on Vista machine,
but also mentioned that you see blue screen on Vista 32. What is the
difference between those two machines?

Could you please get your system information for your machines?
Go to Start > Right-click on Computer > Properties > copy all the
information from System section.

What version of WLPG you're trying to use? Did you install it from
http://get.live.com?

Please provide more details so we can help you.

Thanks!

Re: WLPG - Blue screens on Vista (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA)

I am using WLPG from http://get.live.com . On my network, blue screen only
happens on my main computer. Here are the specs as asked, see attached.

Re: WLPG - Blue screens on Vista (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA)

The blue screen is most likely caused by the video card interacting with
some of the files you might added to the gallery.

Please try updating your video card driver first. You may need to check your
video card manufacturer website for specific drivers for Vista.

Please let me know if this fixes the problem. If not, we will need you to
send us memory.dmp file from your system directory to determine what causes
the crash.

Thanks,
Galina

Re: WLPG - Blue screens on Vista (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA)

Downloading the latest video drivers made no difference. What kind of
memory dump would you want? There are three kinds defined in
system>advanced>startup and recovery.

Possibly unrelated is the fact my main hard drive is starting to have
problems.

Re: WLPG - Blue screens on Vista (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA)

We need a dump file that was generated at the time of crash. You can find it
in %system%windows directory., the name of file is memory.dmp.
Please do not post dmp file to the newsgroup, instead try sending it to
wlpgcust@xxxxxx.

Also, let's take this discussion offline until the solution for the issue is
found. Please contact me over e-mail: wlpgcust@xxxxxx.

Thanks,
Galina

Re: WLPG - Blue screens on Vista (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA)

To get a smaller size dump file, please do the following:
From Start menu, Right click on Computer > Properties > Advanced Properties
Quote:

> Advanced tab > Click Settings button under Setup and Recovery > make sure
you have 'Write an event to the system log' checked under System Failure >
select 'small memory dump (64kb)' from Wright debugging information
drop-down list.
Minidump file location is %SystemRoot%\Minidump.

The minidump will be created only at the crash time.

Please send this file over e-mail.

The fact that your hard drive having problems may be related to the crashes
you see.
If dump file is not created after the crash, that may mean the crash was
caused by hard drive failure.

You can also check Event Viewer under System logs for errors - hard drive
failure may be listed there as well.

Thanks,
Galina

Re: WLPG - Blue screens on Vista (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA)

It was indeed a bad hard drive. All problems ceased once I cloned the old
drive to new hard drive.
