Re: WLPG stops working - DEP

Please check for a problem report as follows:
1. Start > type 'wercon.exe' > Enter
2. Find the bucket for "Windows Live Photo Gallery"
3. If all the entries have status "Not reported", right-click one and "Check
for a solution"
4. Double-click on an entry with status "Report sent", highlight the problem
signature & extra information; copy & paste into your reply.

If there were no problem reports displayed, check for an Application event
log entry as follows:
1. Start > type 'eventvwr.msc' > Enter
2. Expand "Windows Logs" > select "Application"
3. Select a recent entry with Level: Error; Source: Application Error; Event
ID: 1000
4. Ensure the faulting application is "WLXPhotoGallery.exe"; copy & paste
the "General" section into your reply.

This information should help us understand the problem and give you a
suggestion how to fix it.

Thanks,
Galina

Sunshine,

sorry about the delay in response , I have Vista Home Premium which came

with Windows Photo Gallery. Additionally I have already downloaded the
WLPG
from the link you have detailed. Both operate in the same manner and
close
down shortly after being opened.

Thank you for the suggestions but i am absolutely stumped by this one -
have
spent hours on the internet looking for a solution....

Thanks again

Cass

First off, I have no idea why these programs trigger DEP to step in,
maybe
someone else can explain that, but to offer some sort of "solution".....

.... start by looking how DEP is set on your machine. If it is already
set to
"Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only", you can
try
disabling DEP for those programs.

Since I do not have Vista here myself I will quote a little something
from a
blog article:
To explore your default system wide DEP policy for 32bit applications
(remember - the system wide DEP policy only applies to 32bit
applications)
on Vista simply click start, then type 'system' and then scroll down and

click the search result entitled 'system'. On the new window that pops
up
click 'Advanced System Settings', elevate it to admin when prompted and
then
click the 'Settings' button under 'Performance'. Finally - click the
'Data
Execution Prevention' tab.

explained.aspx

Good luck, let us know how you get on with this (would also be good to
know
if you are running 32 or 64 bits Vista)
