| Publishing photos to my live.space Hello all, I am using Live Photo Gallery Version 2008 (build 12.0.1308.1023) and when I try to publish my selected photos I get this... Publishing failed. Please try again later. (0x80042f0a). I have tried several times the last couple of days and I still can't publish my photos. Any one have any ideas how to fix this? Thank you very much. Steve C |

| Re: Publishing photos to my live.space Hello Steve, I am sorry to hear that you are having problems. In order for me to help you I need to know a little more information. Which OS are you running on? Which service are you trying to publish to? Also, can you get the data out of a regkey? I need: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Live\Photo Gallery\PubSubProviders To get to it, click Start->Run and enter regedit in the dialog box. You can right click on that node and do an export to a .reg file the open the file with Notepad and put copy contents to your post. | Re: Publishing photos to my live.space I missed your title when I was responding and now I see that you were trying to publish to live Spaces so I figured out the answer to one of my questions. I did forget to ask one question, have you ever been able to publish? You have published with the gallery before and it is now not working? OR, you are trying for the first time and you just cannot get it to work? Thanks, Troy Barnes Microsoft This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. | Re: Publishing photos to my live.space Hi Troy, Wondering if Steve's problem might be at Live Spaces end instead of at WL Photo Gallery end I decided to do a little test. I could not publish either and got the same message but with a different error number. I tried to add a photo to an existing album and got: Publishing failed. Please try again later (0x80000ffff). This happened both on XP SP2 and Vista (Home Premium). The Vista Machine is new and has not been used to publish pictures to Live Spaces before, computer connected to modem directly (wired). The XP Machine has moved upstairs when I got my Vista Machine and switched from a wired connection to a wireless USB connection (bluetooth). Before when the XP Machine was still my main one and wired to the modem directly I have been able to publish pictures to Live Spaces with it. If it is at Live Spaces end, it is specific to the photo albums as I also tried to publish a blogpost with Live Writer to my Live Space and that went fine. To complete here's my regkey data too: Registry on Vista: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Live\Photo Gallery\PubSubProviders] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Live\Photo Gallery\PubSubProviders\{197608E2-D42D-43a5-927E-1C67FC041431}] @="Windows Live Photo Gallery Flickr Publish and Subscribe Provider" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Live\Photo Gallery\PubSubProviders\{8D9B9B05-D554-40C9-BEED-EC495E27D3AF}] @="Windows Live Photo Gallery Soapbox Publish and Subscribe Provider" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Live\Photo Gallery\PubSubProviders\{AC7BA9E1-6EFF-47EF-BDBE-26C870DD1F24}] @="Windows Live Photo Gallery Live Spaces Publish and Subscribe Provider" I hope this will help you find the problem(s). | Re: Publishing photos to my live.space Thanks Steve and Sunshine for your information. I will investigate but while I am doing that can you try to upload photos to your Live Space via the web rather than Windows Live Photo Gallery? That is one other way we can make sure it is not a problem with your Windows Live ID or your Live Space. -- Troy Barnes Microsoft This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. | Re: Publishing photos to my live.space Uploading via the web on XP went fine. On vista was a bit different: I also installed the upload tool tool on my Vista machine now, which only worked for me once...on next tries just a screen flashed by and no picture added (because of Vista, or because of IE8, in IE7 emulation mode, possible). Uploading without the tool went fine (link bottom right in upload screen of Live Spaces). After that I tried to add photo's through Windows Live Photo Gallery again on Vista, a few times I got the same error as before...then it started to work, but not as expected: a new album went fine but when I tried to add a picture to an existing album the picture got uploaded to the wrong album. Tryin to add a picture to an existing album on Win XP resulted in the same, they got added to the wrong album. -- Sunshine Windows Live Butterfly http://SunshineWeb.org "Troy Barnes (MSFT)" <troyb@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:EF31E95B-5705-4746-BC48-3AFDC0BD784F@xxxxxx

| Re: Publishing photos to my live.space Sunshine your issue is something that we have seen before, however it is a challenging problem and we have not been able to reproduce in a manner so we can troubleshoot the problem. Do you have any permissions on your albums where you limit access to specific albums? Do those permission settings affect the publishing from Windows Live Photo Gallery? Or do you have special permissions set on your space? Any other information that you can think of that would be different than a default setting would be helpful. I have seen problems with the activeX upload control used by the web page and those are separate issues from what we are trying to solve here. If you can upload via the web page then it is our belief that the problem could lie within Windows Live Photo Gallery. Thank you for your help as we try to diagnose this issue and find a fix for it. -- Troy Barnes Microsoft This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. | Re: Publishing photos to my live.space Hi again Troy, Glad I can be of help with this, I hope it will help anyway. I already figured the upload tool was a separate issue, but to be complete I felt it needed mention I also felt it was odd that all of a sudden I was able toupload from Live Photo Gallery after I had installed/used it, be it to the wrong album but still... Here's as much info I can think of that might concern this: My Live Space: http://sunshinesweb.spaces.live.com/ Permissions Live space: Anyone on the Internet All Albums: Anyone on the Internet (the same as your space) Space Settings (shouldn't be a problem, but since this is affecting whole Space) Time zone: (GMT+1) Amsterdam.... Syndicated, http://sunshinesweb.spaces.live.com/feed.rss Comments: Allow visitors to post comments on blog entries Allow visitors to post comments on photos Contact Card Settings: Show information from my Windows Live space on my contact card, and use gleam to indicate there's something new No Premium No Custom Domain E-mail publishing: Off Now starting up Windows Live Photo Gallery, checking album permissions: Who can view the album? The same people who can view my Live Space All albums I have on my space show up and have same permissions. Storage (from regkey): blu1.storage.msn.com To test some more I tried if changing the permissions on the album on Live Space to "Anyone on the Internet" (without the "same as your space") would make a change, it did not...uploads still ended up in wrong album. -- Sunshine Windows Live Butterfly http://SunshineWeb.org "Troy Barnes (MSFT)" <troyb@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:238F8E6F-9AF2-4A72-BAF7-3926DE4AA658@xxxxxx
