how do i get rid of the dozens of useless tags that are in this app, with no
pictures remotely relating to anything, that are listed and just cause
wasted time scrolling through?

I don't see any tags that got installed with the app (by default) myself.
Anyways, to delete a tag simply select the tag name in the listing on the
left, then right click and choose delete.

Thanks, appreciate your help. :-)
Doing them one at a time would take most of a day (or more), but found out
there's a file, Pictures.pd4 in the Windows Live Photo Gallery folder under
C:\User\(name)\AppData\Microsoft that I could delete and it'd rebuild itself
with only the tags I'd created myself. So that was the "cure" I decided to
use.
That same file name is also in the similar heirarchy under Windows Photo
Gallery and deleting it had the same results.
Again, thanks for your quick reply. :-)

You're welcome
I'm glad you found a satisfactory solution and decided to share it here, for
others to benefit from in the future should they have need for it.
Thank you

That's odd, because when I installed, it must have put in 300 tags that were on this sample "gallery" of photos it installed. I deleted those pohtos, but the tags still remained.
And there was no way to say "hey, resynchronize the tag list with my actuall photos, deleting any unused tags"... an obvious function that I cannot imagine why it's missing. I hope to god the next version includes better tag management, including this OBVIOUSLY NECESSARY ability to delete all unused tags in one go.
Right-clicking and deleting them one at a time just isn't even remotely a realistic option, given there were over 300 of them... NONE of them being ones I'd likely use in any of my own tagging.
I'm going to try the solution listed here, but this should be something done via the UI by simply right-clicking the "tags" node. I can't believe this isn't in there by default, from the beginning.
