| | Canīt delete tags Hi all, I have been trying to delete tags I donīt use any longer in Windows Photo Gallery. They just keep coming back. I seriously am going to loose my mind! I just tags for my pictures of my baby. After one month, I put them on a dvd, an remove the tags from the pictures. Naturally I want to remove the tag. Not possible. I have tried to outsmart PG by trying to rename them, but the OLD name comes back, and the damn PG keeps a new tag with the NEW name too! Please help me - what am I doing wrong? I have been trying to find the pd4 file I have read about in other memos below, but I just canīt find a name like that. We have Vista. I have been trying to remov these -approx - fifty tags for a month now. Tonight I suddenly managed to remov all but six of them. And these last six wonīt go away. Please help me before I start to look for a sledgehammer, thanks ever so much, yours gratefully Morran |

| | Re: Canīt delete tags You didn't say how your were trying to remove the tags or what type of files you are having the problem with so perhaps the following is not of use. The way I remove tags in Windows Live Photo in the left pane right click on the tag I wish to remove select delete confirm that I want to remove the tags, the tag is gone. If there were some read only jpgs that had that tag (such on DVDs) then obviously they would come back in the left pane. (the tags in a jpg are within the file itself). | | Re: Canīt delete tags Oh, thank you for replying so quickly... I have tried BOTH to right click and choose delete, AND to mark the tag and press the delete-button. Nothing works. The part about DVD I didnīt understand...sorry.....all the tags are tags I have made myself, and for photos only. I name them with DVD just to remember that all the pictures with that tag are to be burnt-down to a dvd-record. So they are named DVD for May, DVD for June and so on. Could that be a part of the problem? ( but I have one tag named Album for Lisa and one named Grandmaīs papercopies 04dec07-ongoing) After I have burnt down all the pictures under e g DVD for May, I naturally want to delete the tag and create one for June and so on. I could settle for renaming only, but that doesnīt work either. Sigh. Help again? | | Re: Canīt delete tags Hm. I just noticed the line about jpg being a file itself. And as I am not an expert, I didnīt understand that either. All my pictures are jpg-files...is that the problem? I am sorry that I am so stupid, but I have search the windows help-pages with a fine-tooth comb so find a solution, but there is NOTHING about deleting tags exept for "press delete". And that I could figure out myself. Michael, so far you are my hero. Please donīt go away... | | Re: Canīt delete tags Some files have a designated place inside themselves (jpg for instance) to hold tags. When you add tags the file is actually changed and the tags added to the file. Other files do not have places inside themselves for the tags, in that case the tags are associated with the files in the photo gallery's data base (the pd4 files). To find your pd4 file location, left click start orb, type pd4 in the search box, in short order you should see 'pictures.pd4' in the list right click then properties to find out where it is located or select 'open file location' to simply go to it. What I would do. Left click on the troublesome tag. Examine the pictures that that tag brings up (right click, properties). Are they located in non-standard areas, are they write protected? Are they something other than jpg? Who owns the picture (security tab). You need to discover what is different between pictures that you can remove the tag from and ones you cannot remove the tag. Sorry I cannot be of more help. Michael "Morran " <carita.jagenheim@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:uTlUCbT3IHA.1436@xxxxxx Quote: > Hm. > > I just noticed the line about jpg being a file itself.
