| Vista Ultimate x64 | Change Media Centers Recording Codec? Is there any way for Media Center to record in any format besides the DVRMS format? The MPEG-2 compression really just doesn't do it for me, and I'd prefer a MPEG-4 solution of some sort, even WMVHD would be just fine. I just find my Media Center recording drive quickly filling up - who said 1 TB was enough for HD video storage |

| Vista Ultimate x64, Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: Change Media Centers Recording Codec? Vista is shipped with build in microsoft own MPEG-2 codec. Looks like this is the only codec media center uses by default eventhough the tuner driver has its own mpeg-2 codec. |

| Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP1 | Re: Change Media Centers Recording Codec? I'm curious about how this will affect the newer cards that have built in H.264 MPEG4-AVC compression built in. I'd sure expect to be able to take advantage of that with Media Center. Anyone tried yet? Rob |

I put mine to 12mpbs... instead of 6mbps by default |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: Change Media Centers Recording Codec? There is no way to change the recording format. If you wish to record in MPEG4 you'll need different PVR software. Yes, the storage requirements for HD video are steep. Three hour NFL football games are near 30 gigabytes. This WD drive will get you around 77 hours of HD material for 150 bucks. Seems downright cheap to me. |
