Burning functional DVD from VOB files

I have a standard VIDEO_TS folder(NOT copied from a commercial DVD) on my computer and while Windows DVD Maker recognizes the VOB files as video files and is willing to burn them onto a DVD, I want to watch the DVD as it was intended. I have tried making a DATA DVD with the video_ts file, but that won't play on a regular DVD player.

How do I make a VIDEO DVD using the full VIDEO_TS file instead of just a DATA dvd?

You can use Nero Burning Rom, choose Burn DVD-Video and drag the entire Video_TS folder over and burn.

Re: Burning functional DVD from VOB files

Thanks for the reply. I had an older version Nero before I got Vista, and, needless to say, it doesn't work on the new computer.

I did, however, d/l ImgBurn, created an ISO file and managed to burn a fully functional DVD out of that. A somewhat complicated process that I barely understand, but it's not a habit I'm going to start. Windows DVD Maker will work for 99% of what I will do.

Thanks for the welcome.

Re: Burning functional DVD from VOB files

I noticed the dvd type I was trying to burned to was DVD+R. I've got a DVD player in my car and couldn't get them to work. As soon as I looked up my dvd player I found out it only plays DVD-R format, the +/- really matters. The DVD-R ones work just fine.
Also, MY question. I've got a whole bunch of Music DVD's and would like to split them up by chapters. I got a converter because my Windows Movie Maker does not support .vob files. Is there an upgrade to the Windows Movie Maker? Or what other software can I buy that WILL run .vob files and allow me to edit. I've successfully separated these once they have been converted, but 2 problems came up. 1. They took forever to convert. 2. The quality was reduced to garbage to get it to play right through the WMM. Thanks ahead of time.
