HDMI Trouble

I recently (yesterday) got a Gigabyte GA-MA78GSM-S2H and an AMD 4850e CPU. Everything went well and the installation was absolutely trouble-free (needed to re-activate Vista but that was fine too). Hooked the TV up to the HDMI port, got excellent picture, sound etc - UNTIL I change the channel and then go back. Then the desktop is gone, the channel is blank, and the only way to recover the picture is to put the PC to sleep and wake it up again. I know this isn't any kind of HDMI-specific problem, so... any ideas?

NOTE: Got reply from Gigabyte Technical Support and they say updating to the new Catalyst drivers solves this problem - and they're right!
