MCE Can't Connect

Hi,

I'm running Vista Ultimate 32bit and have just bought a Linksys DMA2100.
I'm connected through a Linksys WTR350N wireless router using DHCP.

The computer can see the MCE on the network and in the MC setup process it gets to the last part (connecting to extender) and then fails. The MCE has an IP and I can ping it successfully.

All firewalls are disabled.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi Dinomke20,

Do you have any Anti-Virus installed? Your wireless can also be blocking it as a security Measure...Check your Linksys router for any Wireless SPI (firewall) or equivalent.

Re: MCE Can't Connect

I have disabled Windows Firewall, Onecare Firewall and the Router Firewall.

I think its something to do with Windows Update KB938126 which is required to run my Linksys DMA2100 Media Center Extender, however when I try and run it it says "This update does not apply to your system". The update has not been previously installed, it is not listed in the list of installed updates and is not bundled with service pack 1.

Re: MCE Can't Connect

Hey Dinomke20,

I would contact Linksys for support since they might have other patches Microsoft isn't distributing themselves.
