Vista - WMP11 - when ripping a cd gives "Error"

I have two cd/dvd drives in my computer (SAMSUNG SH-S203) and when i insert a cd to rip onto my computer the cd loads and the computer recognizes it (in either drive). When i go to the rip tab in WMP11 i click on "Start Rip" and it shows the progress on the first song, rips up about 30% then it says failed, then all the other songs that are pending say fail. Im just a little mad because it does not give any error codes or anything, it just says "error under" the "rip status" tab. any assistance on how to get the details of the error, or to fix the error would be greatly appreciated.
I am running windows vista x64, quad q6700, 9800 gtx, 8 gb 4x2gb CorsairXMS2 DHX, evga 780i, wmp 11.0.6001.7000

nope, running at 2.66 GHz

Have you tried running SFC /SCANNOW to see if you have corrupted system files? Have you tried any other diagnostics?

I tried the SFC /SCANNOW and it did not find any problems. i have not tried any other diagnostics programs yet, primarily because im having a hard time finding any.

Hmmm....

How many different discs have you tried? Older content or all brand new stuff? I am beginning to think that it might have to do with DRM related stuff....

i have tried probably five different disks- i do not have the copyright protection option enabled, and i tried switching up the bit rates as well as the format.

is there any way to get an error code or something. all that i can see is "error" but if i had some details on the error i bet i could get a little further.

I see this was posted some time ago without any resolution. I too am experiencing exactly the same problem. The only thing I can add is that the same message occurs whether I try ripping with Windows media or itunes/Quicktime. Come to think of it, this may have started to occur after i loaded itunes. Any solutions yet?
