ehome receiver not found in HID

hi guys, i used to have a fully working media remote when i first built the Media Centre but to make a long story short it stopped working,. uninstalled installed a few times now not working at all.

there is no microsoft ehome receiver in my human interface devices but used to be there when it used to work so think this is where the problem lies. where can i download a replacement, is there such an animal for vista ultimate? Is there any way i can get this baby to work again. at the moment am forced to use mouse

any help is good help,

Re: ehome receiver not found in HID

The driver is built into Vista- if it is not showing up it is possible that it is 'hidden' - go to view and select Sow hidden devices. If you can now see it and it (perchance) has an Error Code 10 (Device not currently connected) then try plugging the transceiver into another USB port - if it still doesn't work try another computer.

Either the receiver is bad, or your USB port(s) is(are) bad, or your operating system is going slowly to pot.

ha~! the pc makes a beep when i connect receiver to usb port so feel usb is working ok, think commands arent getting to the operating system, have tried receiver on other pc and seems fine. i have also connected other receivers to my pc and they dont work.

dont really want to reinstall vista but running out of ideas.

Have you tried that? If you can find it in Device Manager you may be able to uninstall it and force removal of the drivers so it can reload.

I'd also perform a SFC/ SCANNOW

Re: ehome receiver not found in HID

hi,

integrity if good, windows resourse protection didnt find any integrity violations so dont know what to do next.

as there is no ehome mce receiver in my HID(device manager) i cant install or update. there is a mce infrared remote in the usb section but properties says it is working fine.

have tried show hidden but this didnt make any difference, still not there.

are there any other options open to me?

Re: ehome receiver not found in HID

Yup - close Device Manager, then open a command prompt and type the following *exactly*:
Code:
set devmgr_show_nonpresent=1
and hit Enter, then type
Code:
start devmgmt.msc
and hit Enter.

Now, in Device Manager, try showing hidden devices again.

Also, when you are in there, make some screen shots to post....

how do you post a pic from my hard drive. looks like i have to up load pic from a url. does this mean i have pic uploaded to a web page or similar? bugger~!

Re: ehome receiver not found in HID

hi,
this is a followup on the screen captures. The screen capture 01 is from my pc and the device manager screen capture is from another pc with the same build and with remote working.

hope this helps,
