Sling Boxes

I didn't know if I should post here or in software. But anyways, does anybody use sling boxes? They send wireless transmissions from your cable, dish, etc.. to your computer so you can watch it on it. I was wondering if anybody has any luck with them?

Re: Sling Boxes

Yes, I was wondering what model I should get (like Pro, AV, Tuner, etc..)? What I want out of it is to have all my channels of cable on my computer and I want to record and manage shows. What one do you think would suit me best? Thanks..

Re: Sling Boxes

Alright...You COULD go with the SOLO, however, I always recommend the PRO (not PRO-HD, but PRO with the HD Connect cable, the red one).

Why? Well, if you want to stream throughout your HOUSE, then get the PRO-HD, as you will be able to stream HD extremely well. However, if you want to sling via the net to your handheld, or laptop, then the PRO w/HD is all you need. Some people claim that the PRO-HD will be better at streaming through the net too, but the majority, including even SlingMedia, the makers of the SlingBox, do not.

Do you stream to a PDA/cellphone, such as a Treo 750, etc, at the moment?

Re: Sling Boxes

Nope, I just got into the idea of tv on my computer. So I'd be streaming to my desktop. I was gonna get a tv tuner card but I don't have a wire running through the rooms to connect the cable. So wireless tv streaming (Slingbox) seems like a good option.
