Vista - vista mce sound not working

Hi all,
I purchased my Hp touchsmart iq504 running on Vista home premiumx64 about 5 months ago, and purchased an a tv tuner shortly after. I used the tv tuner with windows media center & everything worked fine until 2 weeks ago when the sound stopped working but the picture was ok. I thought it was the tv tuner but when I used the tv tuner with the program that it came with orignally, the sound was fine. Then I went to the music section of windows media center and the sound was fine, so I went back to the tv section of media center and the the picture was fine but still no sound. then I tried playing back some of the recorded tv shows but they also showed with no sound. So I went to windows media player and was able to play the recored tv shows with the sound working fine. I also went to the online tv section of media center and it played the video clips but with no sound. It seems as the sound from my windows media center stopped working with all the files that are video and I even download different codec packages and still nothing. does anyone have any suggestions?

I am having the same problem. can't figure it out. When I play the files in media player however teh sound still doesn't work. Did you ever get this fixed?
