hi there! first time poster here, also a first time vista user. i just installed vista ultimate 64 bit.. so far it has been a minor struggle, but a common learning curve with a new operating system.
right now i'm having some problems with the media player. i installed divx and the playback works somewhat sufficiently. the problem i'm having is a bit of horizontal flicker. the picture just doesnt seem very clear, and when i have a video in full screen i can see a lot of horizontal flicker. to try to explain in words is difficult but it seems like every odd x number of horizontal lines are a bit off. the video seems jagged.
so far it seems to only happen with divx videos. when i try opening the same files using the included "divx player", the picture seems just fine. it's only within media player do i have these visual distortions.
any help would be fantastic!

if it helps, i am playing these on a 22" 2253bw samsung monitor, c2d e8400 processor, radeon 4870x2 2gb gddr5 video card, and 4gb ddr2 ram. i used to play the same divx movies with xp 32bit.

thanks!

The official divx codec is slow and bloated, ffdshow is much more efficient.
