| Vista Home Premium x64 | Volume control? Hi all, My MC has been working great until recently, suddenly the volume on the remote has stopped working.. but the keyboard and task bar volume control is working fine. The channel selection up and down is working fine.. but the volume just recently stopped working from the remote. Anyone know if maybe theres a service in services that may have something to do with this feature? Seems all functions of the remote are working fine.. just cant adjust the volume from the remote. Any ideas would be appreciated..I'm not sure what services would be related to the remote for MC.. I did alot of tweaking in services from the vipers list...I am wondering what if any might have changed the remote..again.. thanks for any help. |

| Vista Home Premium 32-bit & Vista Ultimate 64-bit both Service Pack 2 W7 Pro RTM 7600 32 & 64 | Re: Volume control? Hi Blaydrnnnr, The first thing to do when a remote control (RC) starts to misbehave is to try a fresh set of batteries, but I see that other buttons on it are still working. Does the 'Mute' button still work? It is possible that your tweaking of services might have affected this, but I would have expected that your RC would cease to be detected by your system if this is the case. What I therefore suspect is that the RC either has an internal fault or needs cleaning internally, probably the latter. Carefully disassemble your RC and check that the keys are clean and the PCB is also clean and free from dust. If you are careful, you can use the tip of a flat-bladed screwdriver to bridge the contacts on the relevant part of the PCB (generally, these look like 2 capital 'E's interlocked back-to-back) to see if you get any response. If some options work when you do this, but the volume still doesn't work, then it is possible that the RC is faulty and should be replaced. If everything is working, then reassemble and test. Note that we are NOT responsible for any damage caused by doing this - if you are unsure, get someone else who has experience in RC repair to do this for you or, alternatively, get a new RC. |
