| vista home premium 32bit | vista media center not detecting tv signal howdy all, hoping someone can help me with a problem. i've searched the forum, but not found a solution that works for me. trying to set up my tv signal in vista 32 bit media center. windows recognizes the tuner card, but doesn't detect a signal. it's a sapphire theatrix tuner (hybrid analog/digital with ati 650 pro chip). i also have a 2600xt video card installed. have installed 8.11 drivers for both devices. checked signal by pluging cable into tv, and works fine. service provider is comcast limited basic in philadelphia. no cable box. tried to provide as much info as i could think of, but may be missing something. any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appriciated. thanks, brian |

Have you installed any *other* drivers besides the Catalyst drivers for Vista? Are you sure that the card is listed as supported to work in Vista? And items missing drivers in Device Manager? |

| vista home premium 32bit | Re: vista media center not detecting tv signal hi john, thanks for the response. the card does work with vista. i used it with my previous cable provider and vista mc. since then, vista has been deleted and reinstalled. other than the ati drivers, no other video drivers have been installed. the drivers disk that came with the card only seemed to install (outdated) ati drivers. the card also came with cyberlink powercinema v5. i installed it, didn't seem to work and i then uninstalled it. didn't know if it would cause conflict with media center. also, although media center doesn't say anything about not detecting a card (it scans for a signal even thought it doesn't find one), the card isn't showing up in device manager, under any category. i'm stumped. brian |

| Vista Ultimate SP2 x64 : Seven Ultimate x64 | Re: vista media center not detecting tv signal Try downloading the tuners driver from the site directly. If it's not showing in Device manager, then it's not considered installed. If that doesn't work, shutdown, remove the card, reboot, shutdown again and re-install the card. With the next boot hopefully Vista will 'spot' the card again. I had a similar disappearing tuner card after I installed the Catalyst drivers. Removing, rebooting, replacing the card did the trick. |

| vista home premium 32bit | Re: vista media center not detecting tv signal thanks for the extra help. i downloaded the drivers directly from sapphire site, but it was the same file that was available from ati site. installed it anyway, but no go. i did remove the card, rebooted, shut down, reinstalled the card. windows detected and installed it, and now i can watch tv on the computer! was frustrating gettting there, but all is good now. well, not all. i have a problem with the guide but i'll search the forums for that solution before i post a new thread. appriciate the help, folks. |
