| Home premium 32 bit, SP1 | Media Player window not showing up. Hello everyone, I still have this problem now and then. Not all the time. I am using WLM. Problem : Sometimes when I opened a music attachment from my WLM, Media Player would not show up, although music would come on. I had to open the Media Player manually. When that happened, I had to re-start the computer, and everything would be normal again. Note : default program settings had not been changed. Any ideas ? Thank you. |

Hi t-4-2, I know you say that default programs settings haven't been changed but have you made sure that whatever the file type of the attachment or song is, is associated with WMP in Default Programs-Associate a file type or protocol with a program? |

The music attachments are mp3. Most perplexing is that sometimes it works normally, then sometimes Media Player won't show. |

Set Program Access and Computer Defaults(microsoft windows, non-microsoft, custom..see if they say WMP default) Change AutoPlay Settings- Audio files to WMP, Set Your Default Programs- make sure it's set to dault and all the boxes are checked. See in Services if Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service is disabled, and any Windows Audio Services are disabled. Control Panel-Administrative Tools-Services. May just be that some music files that you have don't associate themselves with WMP for some reason. Is it a lot of songs or just a couple? |

Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service was set on Manual. I have changed it to Disabled. Windows Audio Status is Started, Startup Type is Automatic. The rest of the settings are what they should be. I hope that's all there is to it. Thank you. |
