Vista - Importing pictures and videos...

OS:Vista Home Premium 32bit SP1
Camera: Sanyo 1080p Digital Movie Camera VPC-HD100
Card: SanDisk Ultra II SDHC 15mb/s 4GB
USB converter drive: Digital Concepts SD/MMC Reader/Writer (it works with the SDHC card, because it's worked before)

I am trying to import Videos and Pictures from my Sanyo HD camera to my computer. When i first got the cam and the card, i had no problems importing a full 4GB card of images and videos to my computer.

My current issue: I can't import videos or pictures to my computer using the auto importer. Manual moving works, but i really want auto importer to work again.

What happens: Importing pictures and videos just stalls, does nothing. When i close it, it asks if i want to stop importing and i say yes, and it doesn't close. When i open task manager and shut it down through there, it says Windows Explorer (not internet explorer) has stopped responding and must be restarted.

Changes that occured before the problem: I had a movie that refused to be moved from the camera to the computer, either via card or direct cable. It said it was being used by another process already. I had tried safe mode and it still gave me the same thing. So in regular mode i moved it to my computer manually, and it worked, but i couldn't delete it til i went back into safe mode.
I had to reformat the card from the camera (and i tried from teh computer too), but now it just refuses to import pics.

i really don't want to move them manually anymore, i just want my importing to work again...

EDITED: I am not using any other programs to import these files. just the default importer.
