windows m.maker freezes half way.

I tried and tried to publish my holiday movie to DVD. It never reaches the finish on publishing and freezes around half way. I transferred it from a SD card and the file is VMP. I'm sure WMM is working ok as I have been successful at publishing a sample video that came with the PC. Really would appreciate some help as I'm getting very frustrated.

I am not sure vmp files are supported by Vista, or that they can even be read by Movie maker.
Try converting the files.

Re: windows m.maker freezes half way.

The movie I took was on a 8GB San Disk in a Panasonic camcorder (new). My PC is a Sony Vaio VGC-LM series only a few months old.

What is the Panasonic camcorder model that created the .vmp files?

Re: windows m.maker freezes half way.

The model is SDR-S7. I am getting rather confused as now I have a copy of the movie in my documents with the file (.mswmm) after it. If I try to import it into wmm it has completely disappeared. Can bring it in from drop down file though!

Re: windows m.maker freezes half way.

Storage Media: SD/SDHC Memory Card Compressed Format: JPEG Movie File Format: MPEG-2

video multiprocessor (VMP) for image compression and decompression schemes of MPEG (especially MPEG-2)

For Movie maker to play the MPEG-2 you need to download the codec.

Re: windows m.maker freezes half way.

First I would like to thank you so much for your patience. This looks so complicated for someone with limited knowledge. Where would I download a codec from and how do I know which one I would need? O.K. tomorrow is another day as it is nearly midnight for me.
