WMP 11 doesn't play WMA and WMV

Hi Everybody!

I am a Vista Home Premium 32-bit User.I am trying to open WMA files wit WMP11 and I get the "C00D11B1" error. When I looked up the error on the internet, it says that there is a problem with the sound driver, which is updated. I try to open the same file with VLC and no problem. When I try to open some WMV files I get an error as well.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks

Re: WMP 11 doesn't play WMA and WMV

try downloading the xvid codec at Xvid.org: Home of the Xvid Codec and see if that works also you could uninstall WMP11 and reinstall it. or use winamp or another media player.

just some ideas.

I would try reinstalling Windows Media Player, because WMP11 should be able to play both natively, since they are Windows Media Files.

yeah but i have noticed sometimes WMP does not always play things correctly if it does not have the correct codec installed.

Yea, but I don't see why a WMV or a WMA would need the Xvid codec, since Windows Media Player should be able to play both of these natively.

yes you are correct i should but i depends on how it was encoded i have had some issues in the past with WMV and WMA's needing codec and would not play with out them. and i have noticed that the xvid coded has helped with it.

ok, well, if I have a video that isn't playable in WMP I just use VLC Media Player, handles almost everything, at least the formats I have watched., DivX, Xvid, MOV, MKV, to name a few, lol.
