No Mp3 Rip in WMP

The title pretty much says it all, I cannot rip from a cd into mp3 format anymore and I get an error that says "One or more tracks cannot be ripped from the cd."

I can rip in wma but mp3 has higher quality. Here is the error code from microsoft: C00D10D2.

Thanks

Microsoft- Windows Media Player cannot rip the track because a compatible MP3 encoder is not installed on your computer. Install a compatible MP3 encoder or choose a different format to rip to (such as Windows Media Audio).
The solution is to find and install an MP3 Encoder. It was probably deleted by mistake when another program was uninstalled. I had a similar problem not too long ago except my problem related to a video decoder which somehow disappeared or stopped working.

Re: No Mp3 Rip in WMP

So... how do I do that? Should I just put the files for lame or some other encoder in the WMP folder in Program Files?

Re: No Mp3 Rip in WMP

Hi Marty,
Which WMP are you using?
My Vista 32 version has tools>options>rip music>rip settings on it which I set to MP3..

Re: No Mp3 Rip in WMP

Sorry for taking so long to respond...

Anyway, I have WMP 11 in Vista and it used to work just like that up until a few days ago. At first I thought it was because of Comodo System Cleaner's registry cleaner having a problem but I restored the backup and the issue was still there. I can still rip fine in MediaMonkey and ExpressRip but, nothing works quite as well as Windows Media Player did. Too bad there isn't a way to do a repair install of WMP...

Re: No Mp3 Rip in WMP

Marty, you could try a sfc scan.

Here is tutorial on sfc.
System Files - SFC Command[11]=Performance%20Maintenance

If that doesn't work it's looking like you might have to do a repair install from the recovery disc
