| Vista Home | Windows Media Center - outside the U.S. I built my father an HTPC running WMC Vista. I set it up here in the U.S. before he moved to St. Martin (a Dutch island in the Caribbean) - and everything was working fine. He was told to select "Netherlands/Antilles" as the location when running the TV Setup wizard, which he did, but then it insists on a zip. Problem... the island has no zip codes. How does WMC know what service he has since it doesn't know where he's at? Pretty intuitive of Microsoft!!! Can anybody help? |

| Vista Ultimate SP2/Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | P.S. When I tried it here it asked for a Postal Code (NOT a zip code) which does exist as far as I know for just about anywhere in the Caribbean & looking up hotels on that island I see that they all have them. If he doesn't know it then ask a neighbour, the front desk or the nearest Post Office. Last edited by Ex_Brit; 08-19-2009 at 07:58 PM.. |

| Vista Ultimate SP2/Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Then he should have a Postal Code to enter into the app. |

| Vista Home | Re: Windows Media Center - outside the U.S. We tried to put in a postal code from the French side, but it said there was no service provided with that code. He's trying to find a code for the Dutch side. Question: What happens when the location does not have service, and WMC is not picking up any stations. My father said that he's only getting a few stations when he surfs through the channels. Yet, when he bypasses the HTPC, he gets lots of channels. |

| Vista Ultimate SP2/Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: Windows Media Center - outside the U.S. I remembered that I hadn't yet setup WMC on one of my boots so I just experimented using Netherlands Antilles as my location. The reason that this is arising in the first place is because your father is saying yes to setup TV listings...there aren't any for that area. Tell him to enter several 00000000's for the postal code and he'll see what I mean. Just set it up to receive whatever signal, antenna or satellite. I would have thought the automatic setup choice would have done all thyat. |
