| Vista Home Premium x64 | Cannot play AVI but WMP can My windows media player can play my MKV and AVI but my media center can not everytime I try to play anything it says VIDEO ERROR Files needed to display video are not installed or not working correctly. please restart windows media center or restart the computer I am running vista home premium 64bit. I only have one codec installed which works fine with Media Player and its DIvx |

| Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (Bata) & Windows Vista Ultimate x64 Sp2 & Windows XP Professional x32 Sp3 | Re: Cannot play AVI but WMP can In order for Media Center to Play files on a x64 OS you need to install a x64 Codec Pack. Windows Media Player has a x32 version but Media Center is x64 only. That's why it will play on one but not the other. The codec you have installed is x32, but you also need the x64 Pack in order to get full x64 support. |

| Vista Home Premium x64 | Re: Cannot play AVI but WMP can i installed the proper codecs I found out what my problem was. I installed a sound card that did not have x64 bit drivers available. So i had to installed the 32 bit ones the card didn't work properly with the computer when I removed it Everything was fixed. |
