Help my video's are missing out of my movie

I spent all day yesterday creating 2 movies in Windows Movie Maker that included photo's and video's. They were just perfect. I went into burn the DVD's, it said Windows DVD Maker will close and save your movie and start it in DVD Maker. It did, but then I realized I wasn't going to have time to burn them. When I closed it asked if I wanted to save them and I clicked yes.

When I went back into Windows Movie Maker I can open the saved movies but the video's have red X's on them in the storyboard and timeline views. If I click on the X, the option that applies is "browse for missing file". When I do that it takes me to the file on my computer where the video was prior to importing it into Movie Maker, which now says it has no such video.

Where did they go, and how can I get them back? I am so frustrated I scream, I've looked everywhere on my computer, in my recycle bin, etc. and they all say they don't have it.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Hello Avesis,
Have you tried running a "search" for them ?, check the search hidden files box too.
Good luck and post your results.

Re: Help my video's are missing out of my movie

Thanks for responding, but yes I have tried "search" in every nook and cranny, hidden and otherwise. They were just gone.

One place that said if you move or change the name that can happen and you have to find the original.

Fortunately I still had them on the memory card on my camera. I re-imported them and saved them to my computer. From there I imported them back into Movie Maker. That made the red X's go away, however I still get the same prompt when I try to burn the DVD.

Try to burn them with DVD Flick ( DVD Flick ). This is a very good program (high quality) and maybe you have more luck.

Re: Help my video's are missing out of my movie

Thanks! I'll give it a shot. I just hope it's not some sort of glitch in Movie Maker that will follow any program I try to burn it in. I'm crossing my fingers, and thanks again!

I suggest you read the little 4 page instructions. I never had any problems with it. The only reason I could think of that it does not accept your clips is a very strange codec.

Re: Help my video's are missing out of my movie

I ended up doing a totally new movie using the same photos & videos. It was very time consuming, but it worked. It must have been something with getting it transferred from Movie Maker to the DVD maker, which ever one I would use. I'm glad you told me about the DVD Flick though it looks very cool!
