    Re: convert to dvd

    Hello,

If it is an AVI file with no DRM (meaning it has no proprietary "locks" preventing copying or modifying), then Nero 8 and upper version should be able to convert this to standard DVD format and then burn it to a DVD.

You can also use Xilisoft AVI to DVD Converter & Burner. Some Features of this application:
    1. Convert AVI to DVD
    2
    .Create DVD with Menu
    3.Multithreading and Multi-Core Processing
    ...............etc...

    Thanks.

Hello Jasond19, very good advice by everyone. As a vista lover mine is a 64 bit and came with Cyberlenk DVD suite Deluxe and Windows DVD maker in the popup list, did they not give you any thing to burn DVD's if so that stinks, have you tried looking here to see if there is anything you can use.

    Free Software List for Vista

    1. You use Home premium. You have Windows DVD Maker included in the system. Use it to burn items to DVD.
You will be able to play it in any portable DVD player or any computer after you have burned it with Windows DVD Maker.

    2. To be on the safe side, because not all avi formats are supported by Windows, google for a FREE video converter.
Use it to convert your avi to WMV format.
Then open Windows DVD Maker > add the WMV to it > start the burn process.

Note : I use Prism Video Cnverter. It is free, and it does the job for me.

    Re: convert to dvd

    What I do is:

Download and install K-Lite Mega Codec Pack:

Free-Codecs.com :: Download K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 7.1.0 : The K-Lite Mega Codec Pack includes the K-Lite Codec Pack Full, QuickTime Alternative, Real Alternative support and Monkey's Audio DirectShow decoder.

This will allow 99% of video and audio formats to be viewed in Windows without the need for extra software which would clog your system up. A codec basically tells Windows how to read the file and this program is a bundle of codecs.

Once you've installed this, you can use Windows DVD Maker to burn pretty much any video file to a disc. This is a lot faster as no conversion is needed!

    Hope this helps!
